Turn Any Sales Call Into a Custom Business Map with Claude

What you get: the exact setup to connect Excalidraw to Claude, plus the copy-paste prompt that turns a discovery-call transcript (or onboarding form) into a custom automation map of your prospect's business — in about a minute. Show it on your next call and watch the conversation flip from "what do you do?" to "when can we start?"

Why this closes deals

Most deals don't die because your offer is bad. They die because the person across the table can't picture what you're describing. A custom drawing of their business, with their name on it, is proof you already get them — before they've spent a dollar. It's the contractor who slides the finished kitchen drawing across the table instead of talking for an hour.

Part 1 — Connect Excalidraw to Claude (one-time, ~5 min)

This uses an MCP server — basically a plugin that gives Claude the ability to draw in Excalidraw.

Get Claude Desktop (the desktop app, not just the browser). MCP servers run through it.
Have Node.js installed (the MCP server runs on it). Download from nodejs.org if you don't have it.
Open your Claude Desktop config file. In Claude Desktop: Settings → Developer → Edit Config. It opens claude_desktop_config.json.
Add the Excalidraw MCP server to the mcpServers block, then save. Use the config below.
Fully quit and reopen Claude Desktop. You'll see a 🔌 / tools icon showing Excalidraw is connected.
Test it: ask Claude "Draw three boxes connected by arrows in Excalidraw." If boxes appear, you're live.
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "excalidraw": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "excalidraw-mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Note: there are a few community Excalidraw MCP servers — search "excalidraw mcp" on github / npm and use the one with the most stars. Setup is the same: add it to the config, restart, test.

Part 2 — The prompt that builds the map

After your discovery call, grab the transcript (Otter, Fathom, Fireflies, even a rough copy-paste) or the onboarding form they filled out. Paste it where shown and run this in Claude:

You are a senior automation consultant. I'm about to show a prospect how AI
and automation will transform their business. Use the Excalidraw MCP server to
DRAW a clean, professional one-page map of their business as a set of automation
systems.

Here is the discovery call transcript / onboarding form:
"""
[PASTE TRANSCRIPT OR FORM HERE]
"""

Build the map like this:
- A title at the top: "AI & Automation Systems — [Their Business Name]"
- One sentence under it summarizing the 4 systems in plain English.
- 4 horizontal SYSTEM bands, each a different color, stacked top to bottom:
   1. Lead Generation — how they get more customers
   2. Content & Visibility — how they win attention online and beat competitors
   3. Customer Onboarding & Nurture — turn one job into a lifetime customer
   4. Reviews & Reputation — grow 5-star reviews automatically
- Inside each band, draw 5–6 boxes left to right showing the STEPS of that
  system, connected by arrows. Each box: an emoji, a short title, and one line
  of what it does. Make every step SPECIFIC to their business and the tools/
  pain points they mentioned in the transcript.
- Keep it visual and skimmable — a non-technical owner should understand it at
  a glance.

If anything about their business is unclear from the transcript, make a smart
assumption and keep going — don't ask me questions, just draw the map.

That's it. Claude reads their words, infers their systems, and draws the whole thing. Tweak the 4 system names if their business needs different pillars (e.g. a clinic might use Patient Acquisition / Content / Intake & Follow-up / Reviews).

Part 3 — Use it to close

Run the prompt right after the call while it's fresh (or live-share your screen and build it on the call — even more powerful).
Screen-share the map and walk them through their 4 systems, pointing at their business name.
Stop talking and let them look. Silence sells here.
Ask one question: "Which of these four would move the needle most for you this quarter?" — now you're scoping the deal, not pitching it.
Send the map as a PNG in your follow-up so it sits in their inbox doing the selling for you.

The 3-second version

  1. Connect Excalidraw to Claude (Part 1, once).
  2. Paste your call transcript into the prompt (Part 2).
  3. Show them the drawing of their own business. Close.

Building this for clients and want the done-for-you version? I build these automation systems — lead-gen, content engines, nurture, and review machines — for service businesses end to end. If that's you, DM me BUILD and I'll show you how it works.
